The Art of Gestalt Coaching: Developing Individual Style

GTIP's Gestalt Coaching Program is a unique training opportunity that applies the theory of Gestalt Therapy to the coaching process. Participants gain skills in Gestalt-based interventions, which they can then use to promote successful interactions and communications with individuals, groups and organizations.

Gestalt Therapy, with its attention to the phenomenon of human experience, is an intrinsically ethical approach to working with others. It celebrates the differences among us. The Gestalt Coaching Program draws on many of the strengths and values inherent in the Gestalt approach. These include being present with our clients, awareness of self and others, patterns that promote or inhibit healthy interactions, inquiries and dialogue.

The coaching program is geared to both novice and experienced professionals interested in developing or enhancing their coaching and mentoring skills. We welcome participants who come from diverse professional backgrounds and who may be using their skills either within or from outside an organization.

Program participants attend three, three-day sessions over the course of a year with assigned readings and coursework. The sessions involve theoretical presentation, discussion, experiential work, supervised coaching practice, and feedback. These sessions are designed for participants to develop their own individual style — and their use of self — in the coaching process.
